CF84 - A Cocktail, A Cookbook, and My Three Favorite Prayers

Beer Bloody Mary

Intro:

This is Jeff Young, the Catholic Foodie at catholicfoodie.com, and you are listening to episode 84 of the Catholic Foodie: A Cocktail, A Cookbook, and My 3 Favorite Prayers

Welcome, folks, to the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith. I am your host Jeff Young and we are going to talk about cocktails made with beer today. That’s right. Cocktails made with beer. Oh, and a bit about tailgating! So, if you are the kind of person who likes to tailgate, but doesn’t like beer, then stick around. I’ve got a few surprises for you!

I am also going to review the children’s cookbook that I had hoped to share with you last episode. It’s called Now You’re Cooking, and I think you are going to love it.

Finally, I’ve been challenged, folks. And by a friend! So we are going to talk about my 3 favorite prayers. Why don’t you think of yours too. But, don’t go away. We have all this and more right here at the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith.

Dinner woes? Sarah Reinhard isn't scared off, but finds herself turning to Mary.

A special thanks to L'Angelus for letting us use their Ave Maria in the show! (Note: their website is cajunrecords.com).

CF63 - Fasting for the Feast

We are very lucky to have Char on the show again today. And many thanks to Sarah Reinhard for the awesome intro!

What's on the menu for episode 63? Well, today we fast... or, at least, we talk about fasting. And, you know, fasting makes sense only in the context of feasting. Have you ever thought of that before? I really hadn't until reading The Spirituality of Fasting by Msgr. Charles M. Murphy. Excellent book. I highly recommend it for your lenten prayer and reflection.

Catholic Foodie to Celebrate 1 Year Anniversary

I can hardly believe it, but I am about to celebrate 1 year of the Catholic Foodie! I published my first episode on November 30, 2008. And November is just around the corner!

I plan on ustreaming at the regular time (3PM Central) on Sunday, November 29th... which is also Char's birthday! I want to do something special for the 1 year anniversary, but I am stumped on ideas. Do you have any ideas?

CF43 - Healthy Meals On the Go

A question from Nick Padley of In Between Sundays podcasts leads us into a discussion about how to eat healthily despite our busy lives. I also share some feedback and make a few announcements (including a new contest!).

Here are a few of the links I mentioned on the show, and a few resources for preparing healthy meals on the go:

CF42 - Holy Meals

What has been the holiest meal you have ever shared? Outside the Mass, that is.

I asked this question the other day on Plurk & Twitter & Facebook, and I received a number of replies. I share some of those with you on episode 42 of the Catholic Foodie.

I also share an amazing story about a dinner party that an old friend of mine hosted. And, somehow, I end up talking about how Char and I met and how - a number of years later - we become united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Now, how did I get on to those topics?
