I'm Leaving Tomorrow... on a Jet Plane
Food Meets Faith in the Holy Land with The Catholic Foodie
Tomorrow I leave for Israel. Yes, on a jet plane. But, God willing, I know when I’ll be coming back again. 😉
The reason for the trip? The first ever “Food Meets Faith” pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
As you can imagine, today is a busy day for me. Lots of errands to run and packing to do. But I want to take a minute to share two things with you.
First of all, I want you to know that for the next 11 days I will be praying for you and for your intentions at some of the holiest places on earth. From Bethlehem and Nazareth, to Jerusalem and Emmaus, I will carry all the Catholic Foodie readers and listeners in my heart.
Incidentally, if you have any particular intentions, feel free to leave them for me in the comments below. I will pray for those specific intentions while I am in the Holy Land.
Also, if you wanted to make this pilgrimage with me, but the timing just didn’t work out for you this time, then stay tuned… This trip is just the first. 😉
And This Time Next Year…
Secondly, I have some news.
Just this past week I signed a book contract with Liguori Publications for the first ever “Catholic Foodie Cookbook.” The title has not yet been determined, but the cookbook will feature foods and experiences from this pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and it will contain between 50 and 60 Middle Eastern recipes. This is exciting news for me and I want to share it with you!
The book is scheduled to be released in February 2015… Maybe just in time for the second Food Meets Faith pilgrimage to the Holy Land? We’ll see!
Please Pray for Us!
Now I ask for your prayers. Please pray for all those who will be journeying together with me to Israel. Pray that we will have a safe and holy pilgrimage and that we will return home safely.
And I also ask that you keep the Catholic Foodie Cookbook in your prayers. The cookbook is a wonderful opportunity to spread the “food meets faith” message to encourage families to get back in the kitchen and around the table… and to encounter God right there in their homes and in their family. The cookbook will also be a lot of work, so please pray!
Catch Glimpses of the Holy Land
If you are on Facebook, be sure to keep an eye on The Catholic Foodie Facebook page. I will have limited internet access will in Israel, but I should be able to post images, video, and audio at least once a day, so that you can catch a glimpse of the Holy Land from a “Catholic Foodie” perspective. Feel free to join in the conversation and to share and spread the word!
